Sarah Podesta

As a commercial lawyer, my focus is on helping businesses to achieve their objectives, protect value and minimise the risk of things going wrong.  This might involve drafting or reviewing contracts with your customers, supply chain or other key partners; advising on how to stay within the law when selling and marketing your products; or talking to regulators on your behalf.  My particular specialism is in competition law: I have represented clients before the UK and EU competition regulators and designed a number of training and compliance programmes.

I trained as a solicitor in a large law firm but have spent most of my career working in-house with a number of companies.  I have experience of a range of industry sectors (retail, manufacturing, pharma and technology) and of working across all levels and teams within a business, from the board room to frontline operations.  As a result, I've seen first-hand the value that well-timed legal advice can add to a strategy or a project, and understand the need for that advice to be practical and to the point. My firm belief is that commercial legal advice is most valuable when it's given by someone who has taken the time to understand what makes your business tick.
Outside work I enjoy the Leeds arts scene and running up muddy hills with my local club.
