Divorce & Family Law Consultant
I studied law at Newcastle Polytechnic later to become Northumbria University. I took the scenic route to qualifying as a solicitor not the usual path of A Levels then Degree. I enrolled on the part time Law Degree course which involved 3 hours studying twice a week during the evening over 4/5 years. This course was designed for mature students who needed to juggle for example work & young children. This suited me as I was at a crossroad in my life and wanted a change of career from a Civil Servant and I had given birth to my first son during the final year of my degree course, great timing! I somehow managed to qualify as a solicitor in 1994 the year my second son was born impeccable timing again.
My area of expertise has for many years been all aspects of Family Law-divorce/separation, finance, children disputes, non-molestation injunctions/occupation orders & court representation.
I started my career as an Assistant Solicitor in a country practice in Northumberland and then moved on to work in a variety of different sized legal firms from high street practices in the Northeast & Cumbria to a giant national firm based in Manchester & throughout the UK. I opened my own legal practice in my hometown of South Shields which I decided to close when my business partner wanted to become a vicar. Following Covid, I found myself once again at a crossroad and I decided to become a consultant working remotely from home which a lot of people found out they could adapt to during the pandemic. I have built up a loyal following of clients throughout the UK. I am passionate commonsense about providing my clients with no nonsense advice & tailor-made client care. I adopt a approach to helping my client’s reach a solution that works for them.
Outside of work I love to bake and listen to my vast collection of vinyl records. I like to go to see live music and theatre shows. Holidays are mainly cottage holidays in the Lake District with my husband and our chocolate labrador or visiting our grandchild in China.
