Employment Solicitor

Employment law is all about people and what makes this practice area so interesting is that no two scenarios are ever the same. For individuals, their work is their livelihood. For businesses, having a happy workforce and dealing with issues that arise swiftly and effectively, influences their culture, profitability and success.

Elizabeth qualified in 2008 at (the now) international law firm Womble Bond Dickinson under the firm’s first departmental-sponsored training contract, having demonstrated key qualities and attributes as a Paralegal in the firm’s thriving Employment Department.

More recently, Elizabeth worked at DLG Legal Services, exclusively on behalf of individual clients. The fast-paced environment and high volume of work enabled her to develop exceptional case and time management skills. An opponent solicitor on one of Elizabeth’s cases at DLG offered her the role of Senior Associate at a boutique Employment Law practice in Kent, and here, since mid-2023, she supported both individuals and businesses on a wide range of employment matters, plus advice, support and representation in employment tribunal litigation matters.

Elizabeth enjoys combining people interaction with complex and interesting legal scenarios together with the challenge of finding practical solutions to workplace issues quickly and effectively.
Elizabeth is friendly, approachable, reassuring, straight-talking, practical and solution focused. She is always on her client’s side and helps them to navigate the ever-changing landscape of employment law and provides support in resolving often complex problems.
Elizabeth’s specialisms include:

• Reviewing evidence and advising clients on prospects of success in the context of the relevant legal test that needs to be met in the case;

• In employment tribunal litigation matters, drafting the ET1 and Particulars of Claim (for individuals) and the ET3 and Grounds of Resistance (for businesses), drafting lists of issues and completing Case Management Agendas for preliminary hearings on case management, full case preparation and representation;

• Liaising with Acas on behalf of both individuals and businesses, drafting and advising on terms of COT3 agreements;

• Advising businesses on grievance, disciplinary, capability and redundancy/restructure processes;

• Advising businesses on ‘protected conversations’ with a view to nipping potential problems in the bud at an early stage, often avoiding the need for protracted and resource-consuming internal processes;

• Drafting and negotiating the terms of settlement agreements;

• Advising individual clients on the terms and effect of settlement agreements.
